The award winning Celo residence was recently featured in the Summer 2012 edition of Carolina Home + Garden. Architect, Duncan McPherson, was interview about this 1,500 square foot cabin that features energy efficiency and water conservation techniques. The highest portion of the owner's land offers stunning mountain views, however, the owners wanted to minimizing the home’s visual impact on the surrounding hillsides and neighbors. This 2,000 square foot house in Webb Cove is our latest "deep green" project. Our client's goal is to be as close to a net zero home as possible, but without breaking their modest budget. Prioritizing energy efficiency strategies that provide the best return on investment is key to helping them reach their goal. The house design includes passive solar heating, high efficiency envelope, a 5kW PV roof system, and efficient space planning. The 3 bedroom, 3 bath house is located on a steep slope, so minimizing impact on the surrounding land and minimizing site construction costs
