Bus Shelter – City of Asheville

Clingman Avenue, Asheville NC

This pilot project for the Green Bus Stops program incorporates green building techniques, supports mass transit and enhances the streetscape in the River Arts District of Asheville. Samsel Architects teamed with Cady-Guyton Construction and provided grant writing, architectural design services and coordinated material donations and construction. Green building features include locally harvested pine and locust, recycled content roofing and concrete as well as non-toxic finishes. Meals-on-Wheels – North Carolina

After many years of renting space from other organizations, Meals On Wheels of Buncombe County is proud to have a home of their own. This residential style structure provides staff offices, volunteer center and full service kitchen facilities. The building is designed to fit in with the mixed use neighborhood it is a part of. The sloping site presented many challenges providing for vehicular circulation, and opportunities at grade entries on both levels.
